Automate your RevOps stack with Notion + Zapier
An evening session by the Notion Singapore Community on Thursday 16 July 2026 at Lorong AI, 22 Cross St, for RevOps leads, ops managers and the people who keep things moving at growing SMBs. The event shows what happens when Notion, where pipelines, processes, dashboards and docs already live, is connected via Zapier to the 9,000+ other tools a team uses, so a new database entry can update the CRM, ping Slack or trigger the next step without copy-pasting between tabs. Dennis Chiuten, Notion Ambassador and Zapier Platinum Solution Partner, builds three or more workflows live, and attendees leave with a clear mental model of when to use Notion, Zapier or both, a practical view of where AI belongs in automations, and templates to take straight back to their own workspace. Deliberately small group, hands-on, with light refreshments provided.
What I covered
- Framing the toolkit. Dennis opened by mapping when to reach for Notion, Zapier, or both: keep Notion as the context layer where your CRM, docs, notes, projects and tasks already live, pull in Zapier to connect Notion to the 9,000+ other tools a team uses, and combine the two when one change in Notion should fan out into actions elsewhere.
- Why deterministic wins. The thread we kept coming back to: AI is everywhere now, but it does not have to be everywhere in your stack. Often the calmer, cheaper answer is a deterministic workflow, same input, same output, every time. No tokens burned, no guessing.
- Auto-enrich new contacts. Dennis built it live: the moment a new contact lands in the Contacts database, Zapier pulls in company and role data automatically.
- Deal Won, set up the client workspace. The sales-to-delivery handoff, where a deal flips to Won, Zapier spins up a Google Drive folder and a Slack channel, then writes the links back into Notion.
- Match a contact to their company by email domain. The one I took on personally, a small but stubborn job that Notion's own database automations can't do alone. A new contact comes in, we read the email domain, link it to the right company, and create the company if it does not exist yet.
- Closed-loop attribution (stretch goal). Time permitting, pushing closed deals and booked meetings back to Meta and LinkedIn to sharpen ad campaign optimisation.
Key takeaways
- Notion holds the context, Zapier reaches the rest. Notion is where your work already lives, Zapier reaches the other 9,000 tools, and AI comes in only where it earns its place.
- Deterministic beats clever. The most useful automations are simple trigger, action and write-back chains rather than AI wizardry. Same input, same output, and far easier to maintain.
- Automate the busywork, not the thinking. Contact enrichment, workspace set-up on Deal Won, and email-domain matching quietly remove copy-paste toil while people keep the judgement calls.
- Tidy CRM, on autopilot. Nothing flashy, just less copy-pasting between tabs and a CRM that stays clean on its own.
Outcome
- Three-plus workflows built live, from auto-enriching contacts to standing up a client workspace on a closed deal, giving the room a clear mental model of when to use Notion, Zapier or both.
- Attendees left with more than notes: a ready-to-install Notion CRM template, plus the slides and Zap templates to rebuild and tweak at their own pace.
- A small, hands-on Thursday-night crowd at Lorong AI, hosted by the Notion Singapore Community with the workFlowers team on logistics, wrapping with food, drinks and two dads happily geeking out about their workflows.
